Top iOS Apps for Your Job Search

Whether you’ve got a shiny new iPhone 7 or stuck in the middle ages on your iPhone 5, we have accumulated the best iOS apps for discovering your dream job. Apple’s App Store is cluttered with a zillion apps, so finding anything that isn’t a Flappy Bird clone is the digital equivalent of a religious crusade.

Luckily, Undercover is here to give you hot pro advice on what applications you should download to ease the job searching process (Thank us by sending us chocolate golden coins in the post). So grab your imaginary Apple Watch and let’s get digital (for free!):

CamScanner Free

Developer: IntSig Information Co. Ltd

CamScanner is available in payed and free versions. CamScanner is vital to productivity, not only job searching. This powerful app allows you to scan important documents using the iPhone camera. The results are ridiculously good, as the app is able to detect words on a page and made it a readable file.

The option to alter the images quality to be like a faxed document is tremendous, and I believe this app is truly going to change the way you work (for the better!).

Totaljobs JobSearch

Developer: Totaljobs Group

Totaljobs.com is one of the leading job boards in the UK with over 120,000 live job ads currently listed. Search and apply for jobs within the app in a few simple taps. The efficiency of this app is its main draw, as many other job searching apps are overly complicated in presentation.

The option to have new jobs sent directly to your phone is great addition, as well as saved search options. Highly recommended!

Resume Star

Developer: Qrayon, LLC

Resume allows you to build a professional resume in minutes. Edit Resume Star’s templates to customise and personalise your resume. You can create cross-platform compatible PDF resumes.

Rather than put restrictions on users that haven’t payed, Resume Star allows you to pay for the app once you attain an interview, proudly stating: “Pay us only when we’ve earned it. Instead of you taking a risk in trusting an unknown App, we’ll trust you instead. How’s that for a change?”

JobAware

Developer: TapAware, LLC

This job search app provides a nice interface to help get you the job information you need fast. JobAware keeps you up-to-date on the latest employment in your area using the iPhone GPS. There’s also an autofill feature that allows JobAware automatically fill out job applications, rapidly speeding up the application process.

However, the app desperately needs iPhone 6/6 Plus support! My eyes can’t handle the outdated stretched-app look!

LinkedIn

Developer: LinkedIn Corporation

The LinkedIn iOS app is almost identical to the website, with a nice smooth mobile-optimised interface. This might not allow you to do everything that the desktop site offers, but for basic content, such as keeping track of your feed and viewing messages, this app is a must for job searchers.

If there was only one app I would deem an essential download, it’s CamScanner Free. That app proves extremely useful not only for productivity such as job searching but personal use. Scanning images works just as well as documents, and send them via email or save them onto your iPhone. Time’s up, fax and dedicated scanners, CamScanner reaffirms once again the iPhone as the modern swiss army knife.
